IQ 2.0 Quality Level Definitions

The Quality Levels listed here are defined in the IBIS Quality Specification Version 2.0. The level number corresponds to the quality checks that the IBIS file or model passed. The special designators correspond to additional information about the model such as exceptions to quality checks or correlation data. Multiple designators can be used for one model quality level score such as IQ3MS. The levels and designators are given below.

Quality Level 0: No quality checks performed at all. At this quality level the IBIS file is not suitable for simulations.

Quality Level 1: Passes IBIS Parser with no errors or unexplained warnings. It is not recommended to use IBIS files at this quality level for simulation.

Quality Level 2: Passes Level 1 and data for basic simulation has been checked. The IBIS file can be used for signal integrity simulation but it is not recommended to be used for timing analysis.

Quality Level 3: Passes Level 2 and data for timing analysis has been checked. The IBIS file can be used for signal integrity simulation and for timing analysis but is not recommended to be used for Power Integrity analysis.

Quality Level 4: Passes Level 3 and data for power integrity analysis has been checked. The IBIS file can be used for signal integrity simulation, timing analysis, and for Power Integrity analysis.

Designator M: Correlated against hardware measurements.

Designator S: Correlated against simulation measurements.

Designator G: Includes golden waveforms.

Designator X: Includes exception(s) to checks as commented in documentation.


IBIS Parser Results

This section of the report displays the results of the IBIS Parser checker application including the parser version,warnings, and error messages. In order for the overall quality level to be higher than Level 1 there must be zero errors and all warnings have to be documented.
